Learn how to use the “Before (Days Ago)” and "After (Days Ago)" filter options in Planhat

The “Before (Days Ago)” and "After (Days Ago)" filter options are commonly used and they're incredibly powerful but occasionally they do get mixed up so we're going to explain the difference between them using a few examples 🤓


What Do Those Filter Options Do?

  • Before (Days Ago): look back 'X' amount of days into the past and then retrieve all of the results before that point in time

  • After (Days Ago): go back 'X' amount of days into the past and then retrieve all of the results from the point forwards

📌 Important to note:

  • the explanation of what those filter options above do is mostly true except you can use negative values to look into the future. For illustration purposes, it's simpler to use past dates as examples;

  • the next image shows exclusive intervals, endpoint dates are not included.


“Before (Days Ago)” and "After (Days Ago)" Filter Examples

  • Display all accounts that have been in their current Phase for the past 30 days


  • Return all accounts that have had churn that's dated in the past 90 days (including today but if you want to exclude today then change "-1" to "0")


  • Accounts that are due for renewal within the next 90 days (we're using negative values to look into the future)


  • All accounts that we have been in touch with in the past 90 days


  • Renewals due within the next 90 to 180 days
