What is a Task?
A Task is a planned activity that resides in the Actions module. Tasks represent future activities that have either not occurred yet or have yet to be marked as completed. These can include follow-ups, meetings, or any other scheduled actions.
Key characteristics of a Task:
Scheduled for the future or ongoing.
Unfinished until marked as complete.
Represents to-dos, reminders, or any actionable item.
Once a task is finished, you can mark it as completed in the system.
What is a Conversation?
A Conversation is the result of completed interactions, often logged as part of or after a task is marked as done. Conversations can also represent various forms of communication, including:
Logged notes from completed tasks.
Emails.
Tickets.
Unlike tasks, conversations are typically interactions or records of communication that have already occurred.
How Are Tasks and Conversations Linked?
When you complete a task and mark it as "done," you have the option to log a note or outcome from that task. This log then becomes a Conversation, effectively capturing the details of the completed activity.
Tasks lead to conversations when they’re finished, but the two remain distinct objects in the system. While tasks represent future actions, conversations document the outcomes of those actions.
Summary
Tasks: Planned future activities, managed in the Actions module.
Conversations: Records of completed tasks or communications, including emails, tickets, and more. Managed in the Conversations module.
Keeping track of both tasks and conversations ensures you stay on top of your work and maintain clear communication with customers or teammates.
