Introduction and example use cases
In addition to other attachment types, you can embed third-party videos (from Loom or YouTube, for example) into individual Tasks, including Workflow steps. Typical use cases include:
Embed instructional video content directly in Workflow Task steps
Create richer automated user training sequences in the Portal
Support new team members when they execute Workflows
Provide explanatory content to Issues (e.g. bug reports or feature requests)
Use of videos can both increase team efficiency (e.g. by automating what might otherwise be repetitive live video call sessions), and improve the experience for customers and team members alike.
Technical specifications
You can embed videos in records of the following models:
Tasks (including steps in Workflows)
Issues
Assets
Projects
Campaigns
Objectives
Workspaces
Planhat currently supports the following video content tools: YouTube, Loom, Vidyard, Sendspark, and Vimeo
You can embed multiple videos in a single Task/Issue etc.
If the video is deleted at the source (e.g. you delete the video in Loom), Planhat will display a "Video unavailable" message in the thumbnail
Embedded videos are generally excluded from integrations to other tools (but this can depend on the specific integration - if unsure, ask your CSM)
How to embed a video
To add a video, you can simply click on the "+" button next to "Attachments" within an individual Task, Issue or Asset etc., and select "Add a URL" - we show an example (of a Task step in a Workflow) in the GIF below.
