How to use Group Structures

Everything you need to know about Group Structures

If your companies have multiple offices around the world or if for any reason you need a group structure then you can do this by creating group structures within your customer profiles πŸ‘.

Why use Group Structures?

  • It's clear to see the structural relationship between companies.
    ​

  • Planhat calculates and displays the average health score of the combined Β  accounts making it clear for you to see how healthy the accounts are as a whole.

  • Planhat also calculates and displays the total combined ARR of the combined accounts. This is really useful, especially if you have a lot of connected accounts πŸ˜„.

Who can Manage and View Group Structures?

This section explains in more detail which roles and permissions are required to manage and view group structures.Β 

Manage

  • Only Administrators can manage the tree structure (add and remove a child organisation) regardless of the permission set.

Visibility

Access to All Accounts (The "All Accounts" permission will be enabled):

  • If the Group Structure permission is enabled, non-admin users are able to see the group structure (in the company profile) and access any of the profiles.

  • If the Group Structure permission is disabled, non-admin users cannot see the group structure but they can still access the customer profiles independently.

Access to accounts in their portfolio (The "All Accounts" permission will be disabled):

  • If the Group Structure permission is enabled and at least one of their portfolio companies is part of the group structure then they can view the entire group structure. Trying to access companies outside of their portfolio from that view will return an error.Β 

  • If the Group Structure permission is disabled, the group structure won’t be visible and they can only access their customer portfolios from the data view (or by searching the name).

πŸ“Œ Important to note: "Group Structures" are currently only available on the Enterprise plan.

How to Create Group Structures

To create group structures you must be an Administrator with the "Customer Group Structures" permission enabled. If you've identified companies that need to be linked, simply go to the customer profile, click the ellipsis icon in the top right hand corner and select "Add Child Organisation". Once you've done this, on the left hand side of any customer profile that's been connected you will see the group structure.Β 

If you look at the image below, you can see I've connected "Chevron", "Nissan Motor", "Volkswagen" and "Toyota". I can see their individual health scores plus their combined average health score (6). I can also see the combined ARR for all four connected companies (111k).

We can continue to link more and more companies together. For example, "Toyota" purchases "Ford Motor", I can then add "Ford Motor" as a child organisation of "Toyota". To add or remove a company from the structure, click on the ellipsis icon to the right of the company that you want to amend.

In the image below you can see that I have added "Ford Motor" as a child organisation of "Toyota". You can also see that I have the option to add and remove a child organisation when I click on the ellipsis icon.Β 

To hide the group structure, simply click on "Group" at the top of the structure. Click on "Group" again to unhide it.

πŸš€ Quick tip: there's a toggle button at the top of each company profile page called: "Include Child Orgs". If you enable this feature you will be able to view the "Activities" from the child organisations in the group structure.
